A seven-time Oscar winner and break-out Indie hit lead iPlayer’s top picks

Liam Neeson and Lesley Manville star in the romantic drama Ordinary Love, loosely based on the experiences of award-winning writer Owen McCafferty. One evening, Joan (Manville) discovers a mass on her breast. She and her longtime husband Tom (Neeson) are devastated to learn it is cancer. In painstaking detail, Ordinary Love follows the couple and their lasting bond as Joan endures treatment.

There's also another chance to watch Sandra Bullock's star turn alongside George Clooney in Alfonso Cuarón's hit sci-fi thriller Gravity, which won seven Oscars in 2013. The pair play two astronauts who are stranded in space after an accident that sees their ship destroyed. In their desperate attempts to return home, the pair are forced to journey deeper into the vast emptiness of the galaxy.

For a comedy fix, Shia LaBeouf stars in The Peanut Butter Falcon - a quirky independent film with a lot of charm. He plays a fisherman on the run, who meets an aspiring professional wrestler with Down's syndrome (Zachary Robin Gottsagen) who has escaped his assisted living facility. The Peanut Butter Falcon was America's highest-grossing independent film in 2019 - as critics praised both its depiction of Down's syndrome and feel good tone.
