Ten Pound Poms series 2: Who plays who in the cast of period drama as show returns with Michelle Keegan in lead

Ten Pound Poms is back with series 2 on BBC One and, there are some exciting new faces joining the cast regulars Michelle Keegan, Warren Brown, and Faye Marsay.

The first series landed on BBC One in May 2023, and followed a group of Brits escaping post-war Britain to embark on a life-changing adventure on the other side of the world. But, of course, life wasn't as glossy as the brochures had promised...

Series 2 follows on where we left off. After a challenging first year in Australia, nurse Kate Thorne and the Roberts family, led by Annie and Terry, continue to build their new lives.

Only now, they are adjusting to a newborn... Here's everything you need to know about the cast of Ten Pound Poms series 2.

Ten Pound Poms series 2 cast: Michelle Keegan stars as Kate Thorne

Manchester-born Michelle Keegan, 37, reprises her role as Kate Thorne, a mother separated against her will from her son Michael. In series 2, she attempts to settle into her new life estranged from her kin.

Of course, the actress made her name playing Tina McIntyre in the ITV soap Coronation Street, a role she played from 2008 to 2014.

Like Suranne Jones, Katherine Kelly, and the goddess Sarah Lancashire before her, Michelle has now made quite the name for herself as one of TV's most bankable actresses.

After Corrie, she went on to play Tracy in the 2015 series Ordinary Lies, and Tina in biopic Tina and Bobby. In 2016, she took over from Lacey Turner as the lead of Our Girl. She portrayed the role of British Army female medic Georgie Lane until 2020.

Michelle also played Maya Stern in the Harlan Coben Netflix thriller Fool Me Once, and has proved her comedy credentials in Sky's Brassic, too.

Her fans will know she is currently pregnant with her first child with husband Mark Wright.

Warren Brown stars as Terry Roberts

Warren Brown returns as family man Terry Roberts, in the cast of Ten Pound Poms series 2.

Terry battled his demons with drink in series 1, and now must struggle to reconcile his hopes for the life he was promised with the harsh realities he faces at Galgownie...

Cheshire-born Warren, 46, is perhaps best known for playing DS Justin Ripley in the much-missed BBC detective drama Luther. Of course, his character tragically died after being shot in the chest on duty. We're still not over it.

Trigger Point viewers will know him as Karl Maguire, the villain at the heart of series 1.

Other famous roles include Ray Mullen in the cast of The Responder on BBC One, and Sgt. Thomas 'Mac' McAllister in Strike Back. He's also known for playing John Paul Rocksavage in Good Cop, Tom Bailey in Liar, and Jake Willis in Doctor Who.

The actor was a professional Thai boxer before he became known for acting. He started his acting career playing roles like Donny Maguire in Shameless, and Andy Holt in Hollyoaks.

More recently, he portrayed Paul in the Channel 4 crime drama The Gathering.

Faye Marsay portrays Annie Roberts

Yorkshire-born Faye Marsay, 38, continues to portray Annie Roberts in the cast of Ten Pound Poms series 2. The character is a fiercely protective matriarch and defender of her family, who also strives for an independence rarely attainable for women in the 50s.

Faye is perhaps best known for playing Anne Neville in the 2013 TV series The White Queen opposite Silo's Rebecca Ferguson. She went on to bag a role in the huge adventure fantasy series Game of Thrones. Faye played the rather violent and quite scary Waif in Game of Thrones series 5 and 6.

Other well known roles include Candice Pelling in the comedy Fresh Meat, Lizzie in The Bletchley Circle, Janine in Glue, and Katie Springer in My Mad Fat Diary.

In 2016, Faye portrayed the lead role of Nina in Love, Nina, before going on to star as DS Katherine Stevens in Bancroft, Katya Godman in McMafia opposite James Norton, Joanne Aspinall in Deep Water, and The One in Avocado Toast the Series.

More recently, Faye played Vel Sartha in Andor series 1, as well as Hilda in the 2022 film adaptation of Lady Chatterley's Lover. Other significant film roles include Kate Richardson in A Private War, Sarah Ivy in Shamed, and Sybil in Gary Oldman's Darkest Hour.

Australian comedian and actor Stephen Curry returns as JJ Walker in the cast of the period drama. Fans of Ten Pound Poms series 1 will know he is in love with Sheila, who is married to vile bully Bill.

Melbourne-born Stephen, 48, has been on Australian TV since 1991 when he appeared in the sketch show Fast Forward. He's perhaps most famous for playing Tim Hickey in Late for School, Trev in Frontline, Stuart Mill in Sit Down, Shut Up, and Stuart 'Stu' Woodcock in The Secret Life of Us.

He's been in dozens of comedy sketch shows including Eric, The Mick Molloy Show, Flipside, and Open Slather.

Other notable roles include McBaney in :30 Seconds, Jim Coghlan in Fat Tony & Co, Herb in The Time of Our Lives, and John Pinder in Hiding. More recently, he's portrayed Noel Pinkus in Population: 11, and Francis Pike in Bay of Fires.

Australian-born Marcus Graham joins the cast of Ten Pound Poms series 2 as morally ambiguous Benny Bates. Benny is a self-assured businessman who owns numerous properties in Sydney that are in need of TLC. Terry is drafted in to work on the slum housing, but is soon making a connection with Benny and being offered a different proposal.

Actor Marcus is perhaps best known for playing Harvey Ryan in Home and Away, a role he played between 2011 and 2014. He's also famous for his role of Mr Darby in the 2001 David Lynch film Mulholland Drive.

Other notable roles include Stanley 'Wheels' Kovac in Australian soap opera E Street, Elvis Maginnis in Good Guys, Bad Guys, and Andrew Griffiths in Secret City.

More recently, he's played Pav in The Heights.

Indigenous actor Rob Collins, 45, returns as Ron in the cast of Ten Pound Poms series 2.

Darwin-born Rob first appeared on TV in 2016 playing Waruu West in Cleverman. He went on to portray Jack in The Wrong Girl, and Joseph Sullivan in Secret City.

Other notable roles include Doug O'Casey in Reef Break, Phil in Glitch, Amos in brilliant detective drama Mystery Road - currently available to watch on Apple+ TV - and Tyson in Frostbite.

More recently, he's starred as Marc Kemarre in the awful Catherine Tate 'comedy' Queen of Oz, Dr. Wayne Yates in RFDS, Charlie Irving in Total Control, and Gavin Butterfield in Human Error.

He's been in lots of films, too, including Undertow, Top End Wedding, Angel of Mine, Extraction, and Limbo.

His newfound UK fans might want to know that Rob made his professional stage debut in 2013 as Mufasa in the Australian production of The Lion King.

Nic English returns as Kate's new love interest Robbie in cast of Ten Pound Poms series 2

Actor Nic English isn't actually from the UK, despite his name! He's actually Australian, and is mostly known for his work on Aussie TV.

He returns as Kate Thorne's love interest Robbie, who works in the immigration office. Nic is perhaps most famous for playing Marshall Aldrych in Home and Away in 2024.

His other notable roles include Shaun in The Tailings, and Brad in Reckoning.

Who are the Skinner family?

The Skinners are an Irish family who have travelled to Australia for a new start. The father and one son are mysteriously following on, so we initially only meet Maggie, Ray and Birdie.

The three make an instant impact on the community, especially Birdie who attracts the eye of young Peter. But soon, the family's new lives down under are forever changed by an unforeseen event.

Sam Delich joins the cast as Ray Skinner. An Australian actor of Croatian and Dutch heritage, he's best known for playing Rich Petrakis in Territory, Wayne Doull in Last Days of the Space Age, and Matt in The PM's Daughter.

Australian actress Maya Stange is Maggie. She's known for playing Eva McNaughton in Love Child, and Delia Craig in A Place to Call Home.

Actor and writer Tommy James Green plays Padraig. The Aussie has previously played Robin in The Justice Lease.

Perth-born Clare Hughes stars as Birdie. A relative newcomer to TV, she only played Lisa Miles in Ladies in Black before.

Who else is in the cast of Ten Pound Poms series 2?

Alastair Bradman plays Kate's son Michael Thorne. The Australian youngster has previously played Marcus Merrick in The Twelve, Jett in The Messenger, and Young Andy in Population: 11.

Rising star Hattie Hook plays Terry and Annie's daughter Pattie Roberts. She's best known for portraying Ivy Pattison in the TV series Savage River. Hattie also starred as Young Alexa in My Life is Murder, and Ebony in the 2022 film Of an Age.

Finn Treacy portrays Peter Roberts. The young Australian actor has previously played Gordon in Barrumbi Kids, and Logan Delaney in Apples Never Fall.

Tina Bursill returns as the stern Mrs Walker from series 1. The Australian actress is best known for playing Meryl Knight in Doctor Doctor, and Stella Patterson in Home and Away.

Henry McWilliam portrays Kevin Bailey. The young actor previously played Lachlan Shaughnessy in The Secrets She Keeps.

Travis McMahon returns as Ivan Cartwright from series 1. The Aussie actor is best known for playing Bert Johnson in Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Bruno Palmer in Last Man Standing, and Reuben Zeus in Good Guys Bad Guys.

Emma Hamilton returns as Sheila, so thankfully her desperate suicide attempt wasn't successful at the end of series 1. The Australian actress previously played Dr. Eliza Harrod in RFDS.

Ciarán Griffiths stars as Annie's former fling Harry Brewis, a baker who she had an affair with while Terry was fighting in WWII. Manchester-born Ciarán is known for playing Damon Hay in Coronation Street. He also starred as Jack Connor in Children's Ward, Micky Maguire in Shameless, and PC Gary Best in The Bill.
