John Simm’s dogged detective DS Roy Grace takes on two major cases at once in the final episode of series four tonight. The team are investigating the gruesome death of a former offender in Brighton when they receive word from New York about a woman wanted by the US Mafia who is thought to have fled to the seaside city. As they scramble to find her, a further death in a neighbouring county holds a vital clue that may link all three cases together.

Mortimer & Whitehouse: Gone Fishing
BBC Two, 9pm
Comedians and keen fishermen Bob Mortimer and Paul Whitehouse return for a seventh series of Gone Fishing. Tonight’s episode sees the pair fish tench, which typically prefer freshwater habitats alongside soil with a high clay concentration and plenty of vegetation. They visit Rocklands Mere, Norfolk, in hopes of fulfilling these requirements - and finding a type of fish they haven’t targeted since series one. Episode one also features the return of Dr Anand Patel of the Centre for Men’s Health.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins: Discomfort
Channel 4, 9pm

Fifteen new celebrities push their limits as they try to pass SAS challenges set for them by an elite team of ex-special forces operators. This season’s recruits include Bianca Gascoigne, Chris Robshaw, Peter Wicks, Marnie Simpson, Ellie Downie and John Barrowman. It’s trial by fire in the first task of the series, as celebs must traverse parallel metal bars at 335 feet in the air. They later participate in a staged re-enaction of a terrifying hostage rescue mission.

Kate Middleton: Her Life in Pictures
Channel 5, 9pm

The beloved Duchess of Cambridge, wife to Prince William and mother to Princes George and Louis, and Princess Charlotte, is the focus of this new documentary. Known for her love of photography, her most iconic photos are at the centre of this charming documentary. It features contributions from royal experts, who offer their thoughts on how the photographs capture Kate’s generous and loving character, plus her devotion to her public work.

What's on TV tonight: Black Dog (2023)
Sky Cinema Premiere, 9.45pm

First premiered at BFI London Film Festival, Black Dog is a British road trip film with a heart. It tells the story of two troubled teenage Londoners, Nathan (Jamie Flatters, who co-wrote the script), who is about to age out of care and wants to find the only family he has left - a sister in Scotland, and Sam (Keenan Munn-Francis), a former primary school friend that Nathan saves from some other kids. In early reviews, critics applauded the charismatic leads, who add something refreshing and watchable to the generally oversaturated road trip genre.

The Best Man: The Final Chapters
BBC Two, 10pm

A television spin-off of the Box Office hits The Best Man (1999) and The Best Man Holiday (2013), The Final Chapters reunites the award-winning cast for one last outing. Set five years after The Best Man Holiday, the gang are back together for the wedding of Quentin (Terrence Howard). The former college friends are facing new challenges of parenting, health, work and identity. Harper (Taye Diggs) could be getting a film deal, Candace (Regina Hall) pursues further education and Shelby (Melissa De Souza) wants to be seen as more than just a Real Housewife.

Tom Jones
ITV1, 10:20pm

First available on streaming platform ITVX in May, tonight marks the television premiere of new four-part period drama Tom Jones. This is nothing to do with the legendary Welsh singer, but instead an adaptation of Henry Fielding’s classic novel of the same name. This Tom Jones is an abandoned baby who is rescued by an English gentleman. Despite growing to be a kind, handsome young man (Solly McLeod), Tom struggles to find a wife due to his lowly birth. Sophie Wilde and Hannah Waddingham also star.
