What happened in episode 3 of The Game on Channel 5?
Huw most certainly went "rogue" in Wednesday's episode 3 (May 14) of The Game - he barely returned home, so intent was he on proving Patrick was The Ripton Stalker. But Patrick had the last laugh, as he pinned all his crimes in Huw, who was subsequently arrested.
Huw (Jason Watkins in The Game cast) delved deeper into the case, visiting previous suspect Declan Reid for clues. But as the street grew paranoid after further break-ins, Patrick made sure the finger of blame started turning on Huw...
At the end of the episode, Huw was arrested for Ruth Parker's murder, and he clearly had blood on his hands for Paul's too. Basically, it wasn't looking good for poor Huw.
Who is Declan Reid?
Declan Reid is the man Huw erroneously named as The Ripton Stalker - before he was found to be innocent. Having ruined his life, it was no surprise that Declan wasn't happy to see Huw AT ALL.
Huw questioned Declan again about his connection to The Ripton Stalker. He insisted he only knew Ruth, not any of the other victims. All the links to his victims in the flat were planted by the real Ripton Stalker.
However, Declan unknowingly gave Huw a crucial bit of evidence. He said he saw a ballerina in a antiques shop and bought it as a gift for ballet dancer Ruth. However, she he accidentally dropped it, he took it to a repair shop to be mended. Yep, Patrick's repair shop.
After further investigations, Huw realised that others victims of The Ripton Stalker had visited Harbottle's Repair Shop before their deaths. The shop was the link Huw had been looking for. But was it too late?

Why was Huw arrested for Ruth's death?
Huw didn't help himself. First of all, he was at the scene of the crime, at the time of the crime during the events of The Game episode 2.
Of course, then he left her an incriminating message apologising for hurting her. Bad, bad timing, Huw!
However, the main evidence against Huw were all planted by The Ripton Stalker, aka Patrick. When police officers Jenny and Martin found Ruth dead, in a similar copycat way to The Ripton Stalker's murders, they also found one of Huw's cufflinks in the bedroom of her flat. Of course, they were a leaving present from Huw's former colleague DS Jenny Atkins. Never mind that he'd told her he didn't wear cufflinks! And who wears a smart shirt and cufflinks to go murdering?
Still, there was one more vital nail in the coffin before Patrick had Huw exactly where he wanted him...
The Game episode 3 recap: Huw discovered Paul dead
At the end of The Game episode 3, well-meaning Paul was dead, and police arrested Huw.
During the penultimate episode, the street began to grow paranoid and turned against Huw - thanks to Patrick's ever-so-subtle smear campaign. However, Huw found an ally in Paul who hero worshipped Huw, and didn't buy Patrick's act. In fact, Paul said: "Patrick's being a devious arsehole."
Well, at least someone was seeing sense. Couldn't anyone else work out that all the bad stuff on the street coincided with Patrick's arrival?!
Sadly, Patrick would soon pay his loyalty to Huw. By the end of episode 3 of the C5 thriller, Huw found Paul dying in a pool of his own blood, having had his throat slit. The police arrived just in time to find Huw covered in Paul's blood. They arrested him, as a smug Patrick looked on.

What else happened in The Game episode 3 on Channel 5?
- Patrick charmed his way into chatting with Margot - could she be his next victim?
- Huw's neighbours continued to hear strange things in the night. And Patrick planted the seed that a newly-retired Huw was heading towards another breakdown. He even went so far as to plant Huw's golf club in Liz and Steve's house.
- Huw discovered that Frank, his former neighbour, had gelsemium in his blood - a natural herb with similar qualities to chloroform and other sedatives. He also realised that Patrick kept polaroids of his victims - but where?
- Although recently deceased Paul had stolen Patrick's mysterious locked briefcase, when Huw found it open in his house, it was filled with pictures of Ruth.
