The Madame Blanc Mysteries: Theme tune creator's very intimate connection to Sally Lindsay
By Kaggie Hyland | Mon Mar 24 2025The Madame Blanc Mysteries theme tune gently guides viewers into each episode of the cosy crime drama.
With its soulful harmonies and melodious accordion, Passing Through perfectly reflects Dom and Jean's slow-burn romance in the sun-drenched south of France, and the leisurely pace of the Channel 5 show - if not its grizzly murders!
And the theme tune is intimate for another reason - it's created by Steve White, husband of Madame Blanc herself, a.k.a. star of the show Sally Lindsay.
The Madame Blanc Mysteries theme tune performers
As well as starring in and co-creating the crime drama, Sally Lindsay - who plays sleuth-y antiques expert Jean White - roped her musician husband into creating and performing the theme song.
Sally revealed as the series launched in 2021: "Steve has done TV work before, but mainly documentaries.
"As I was writing The Madame Blanc Mysteries, I was talking to him about the atmosphere I wanted and he literally came up with the sound, so it seemed ridiculous not to use our unique situation together.
"The band (Hague & White) and Steve have been amazing and added a layer of quality I don't think we could have achieved without them."

In fact, Hague & White created more of the soundtrack for The Madame Blanc Mysteries, which is available to explore on Spotify.
And Steve created the theme tune for another of Sally's shows, Channel 5 thriller Cold Call.

Who are Hague & White?
The band Hague & White comprises Chris Hague, Steve White and Joel White. Steve was formerly a drummer with The Style Council.
Chris and Joel (cousin of music legend Richard Hawley) have known each other since their late teens, while Steve seemingly began to collaborate with them in 2017.
The original band members are from Sheffield, while Steve hails from south east London.
They released their debut album, The Eleventh Hour, as a trio to critical acclaim, in 2019, debuting The Madame Blanc Mysteries theme tune Passing Through two years later.

Passing Through by Hague & White
Do you remember the first time that my eyes set on you?
They say that time waits for no one, now I know that to be true.
Do you remember the first time that you crossed the room?
Your smile came from nowhere, for some time never, or some time soon.
The road is a long one, I was only passing through... I was only passing through.
I remember the first time you called out my name.
A time I'm still holding as a pawn in this fool's game.
Now give me a reason, I'll beg you to stay.
Time is standing still but you're walking away.
The road is a long one, you were only passing through... you were only passing through.
Heading out to nowhere because I'm away from you.
From city lights to tearful nights. Still alone.
But I know it only took that first lonely look and that was the time to show you you’re mine..
Maybe we will only be passing through.
The road is a long one, we were only passing through... we were only passing through.
